Irish Club of Alaska

Arts/Culture

The purpose of the Irish Club of Alaska is to: provide the public with entertainment, hands-on experiences, and learning opportunities related to Ireland and Irish culture and traditions; foster cultural exchange and understanding between Ireland and Alaska; and interface with other organizations and cultural communities of Alaska to promote an interest in Irish culture and tradition. We accomplish this through both annual events and ongoing programs.

Our three large annual events are An Afternoon in Ireland, a unique stage performance of local actors, singers, musicians, and dancers every March focused on a different theme every year; the Galway Days Irish Festival, a free, fun, and family-friendly festival celebrating Irish culture, music, and traditions held in downtown Anchorage on the second Saturday in August; and the Irish Holiday Market, a free winter event held every December to bring the holiday spirit of Ireland to Alaska. In addition to these annual events, the Irish Club of Alaska holds a variety of in person and online events throughout the year connected to our many programs, including our History and Heritage program, the Children’s Lá Féile initiative, ICA Workshops, ICA music sessions, original films on our YouTube channel, and our new Ireland Through Our Eyes photography exhibit.
